Ian Honeyman is a multi-award nominated composer, songwriter, and producer whose mission is to use music and film to create experiences of joy, escape, creativity, intrigue, warmth, energy, and compassion for his audience.
Growing up in rural Wisconsin, Ian found a connection to the wider world through music (New Order, Sex Pistols, Guns N' Roses), as well as films (Repo Man, Star Wars, The Blues Brothers). He pursued his passion for music at the Peabody Conservatory, where he honed his skills in classical music. While at Peabody he found an opportunity to work as a recording engineer for NPR, cementing his desire to spend his time in recording studios creating music.
In 2001 he moved to LA, where he gained experience writing music for other composers on films like “Constantine” and “Miami Vice” before starting his own career as a film composer.
Ian’s music has been featured in over sixty films and television series, nominated for multiple HMMA awards among others, and included in the LA Times’ shortlist of original song contenders for the Oscars. His recent credits include the title song for Netflix animation ‘The Monkey King’, Disney+ Emmy-winning series ‘Man in the Arena’, and the Emmy-nominated documentary ‘Cured’ .
Ian lives in Los Angeles and when not writing music, spends his time at the beach or traveling the world with his wife Joanna.
